WHO PUT THE COLOURS IN THE RAINBOW?

It's all about the colour today!
I bought a couple of half metres' worth of Christmas polycottons - honestly, it cost less than some magazines you can buy!  I was running out of suitable fabrics for the reversible doggy bandanas which have been such a hit!
This is Bruce!  He's the cute little dog of Caroline, my friend in band and doesn't he rock the bandana?! I couldn't ask for a better model huh?!  Anyway, I've been making a few more for various charity groups and presents as they've been very successful. That's pleasing :-D

Some ready for packaging - I used up some of the final scraps of the Scandi fabrics to make a patchwork one too.
I thought these were lovely but will put them away until the Spring....

The Greyhound Trust ladies requested some more hats and doggy snoods. My hubby has been a complete star and made the pom poms for me (I think he likes using the Clover pom pom maker, nice bit of technology you see!) I do love this chunky wool (James C Brett) it knits up really quickly and is the perfect thing to make whilst watching the telly :-)

But it hasn't all been about the crafting this week - G and I have bought a house!! Not in Wiltshire but back in our home town in Wales...it's been a bit of a shock to our family and friends but is a good decision. I can't wait to be back by the sea - though I think it's just as well that we'll have a guest room because everyone has said they're coming to visit. Julia and I have been brave and will be back and forth because she's too good a mate to not see frequently. Telling my friends in band was the hardest thing - it's been a big part of my life and I shall miss them all terribly. What other hobby could see you doing this for example:
We did a whole day of playing marches and other music in Tesco at Tidworth. As it's a garrison town, there's lots of military personnel in and out. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the music - it's a bit different eh?  We shall be back there twice (again at Tesco's request) to play Christmas carols and music in December.

So, there you have it - my week in a nutshell: sewing, knitting, parping and house buying. You can't say I don't live a busy life!!

Wow, don't you all look smart in your red coats - just perfect for the lead up to Christmas. Well done you - what a worthwhile day you had.
Love the hats and snoods, what gorgeous wool you are working with, just the thing for those cold mornings (and afternoons of course, plus evenings) to brighten up the mood. Am sure the Trust will be really pleased with those.
Then there are your doggy bandanas - what fun they are and how elegantly they are being modelled. Love the patchwork one.
Am sure you will be kept busy when you move to the sea, who could resist staying with someone as warm as you.

Hi Jan, Loving the bandanas, hats and snoods. Bruce is rocking his bandana and obviously loving the sunspot he was in.

Thank you so much for making things for the Greyhound charity. The kennels have moved and the new place needed a lot of work, so they have been fundraising like crazy and I know your things have been very popular.

Hope your move goes smoothly and you soon settle. At least it is an area you know well and hopefully you will have loads of new friends to make, but like you say keep in touch with those you will leave behind.

Hi Jan. A lovely fun-filled post. Had you realised you are already exhibiting your Welshness??? Look at the colours on your desk today??!! Cute doggy makes - and a fantastic shot of your band. You will indeed miss that - but I'm sure you will be able to find one in South Wales - after all, we are in the land of song and music!
Take care, dear girl. God bless.

Thanks for visiting mine already this morning...Topsy and Tim are for a young teenager with Autism so I feel really honoured to have been asked to make them. It was all she was wanting for Christmas.
Sending lots of love.....hope the move goes to plan.

Hiya Jan, so happy the sale went through for you! Wonderful news. Yes, you can put us on your guest list, lol. Should start a B&B, rofl! Yes, Jackie was lovely, I do love meeting all our WOYWWers, and Margaret has said she'll be coming to the crop too, so thats another one. Think it's pretty much certain we'll be ok, I mean, we're heading to mid November and I still haven't had the tests. Love and squishy hugs to you all, Shaz xxxx

What an adorable little dog, looking all the cuter with your bandana on! I love the hats and doggy snoods too.
I bet your band will miss you as much as you miss them, and I'm sure you'll soon be parping along with Welsh band - I'm sure there will be loads to choose from, you are from such a musical nation!

Your project always make me smile with their bright colours and pretty patterns! Bruce is adorable and indeed the perfect model for those bandanas. Try putting those on Oreo, LOL - he wouldn't have any of it. Congratulations on your house purchase - I expect they are a bit cheaper in Wales than in Wiltshire. We've been looking over the river too, but we're pretty much tied to Gloucestershire for now. We're hoping that prices might come down around here. It's sad that you have to leave behind your band mates, but perhaps you'll find another local band. Leaving is always hard, but also exciting for what the future holds. Wishing you the best of luck in your new house and new town Jan! xx

Great doggy bandanas... in Germany all the children wear them both around their necks and around their heads. They are also dribble bibs for babes and toddlers. In the winter one side is always plain fleece or wool too. You could start a trend here!
Your move is a big step but one I too would love to do as it's my dream to live by the sea. Good luck and every happiness.
Wish I could make it to the crop but I will be in Germany visiting my family.

What a great post. Wonderful bright colors, just make one feel refreshed. I think anything for pets is a good money maker. And moving sounds peaceful, I hope it is. I've not regretted coming back home, but I wish it was by the water! Best Wishes in the transition. Congrats on the new home. I think I'll have to get new addresses on so many of you.

Hi Jan, what a busy and exciting time you've been having. Congratulations on finding your new home - and in Wales too! We love Wales and used to holiday there often when we lived in Derbyshire. Soon you'll be packing up and moving again. We moved into this house just before Christmas three years ago - it was cold but so nice to be in just in time for the festivities. Bruce makes the perfect male model! The bandanas are real winners. All your new fabric purchases are lovely and I love the knitted hats too - that yarn is so colourful. I've not heard of doggie snoods before - wonder if my daughter's Jack Russell would like one (he doesn't like coats). Have a great week and happy WOYWW. Hugs, Elizabeth x #13

PS: I'm sure there's going to be a lot of coming and going between Wales and Wiltshire - I'm not sure you and Julia could be kept apart for long :)

Great news that you've found a house, especially near the sea. I'd give a lot to live near the water. (We have a boat, but it's about 45 mins drive from here. Not much of a distance but we still seem to be too busy to use it as much as we'd like.) I'm guessing Julia will be less than 3 hours drive from your new house? We think nothing of driving that distance here :)
Like your knitting, especially the one on the right hand side. Love the variegated with the pink/purple.
I hope you can find another band to join! My best friend (who lives four hours drive away!) moved to a country town where they promptly joined "everything" - choir, band etc.
Oh, and it took me years, but I did eventually learn to change my sewing machine needles often :)
Have a good week :)

Hello Jan,

Ok, I had to find the post about the house. How far will you be from Julia? Congratulations to you and yours. I kind of know what it's like to decide if you stay in the same town or not. I thought of moving to Santa Fe (only a 45 minute drive) but after much consideration decided to stay put.

Keep me informed on your move, etc.

Kay
