PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC.....

I've been out dancing two Saturdays in a row!! This used to be the norm when I was younger but is a cause for celebration these days :-D Not so the aching ankles and knees the following day however, age is a-creeping up on me, lol!  When I think of dancing for hours in 4 inch heels...sigh.. don't think I could even walk in them these days :-D

I only tell you this because I've been out of the house more than in. Last Monday, we went to Winchester to up our lad from uni - we dropped in on Julia en route, hooray!! It was so fab to see her and we had a really good catch-up. Forgot to take any photos though...doh....

So here is a very short expose of what's been occurring craft-wise:

I've completed the crochet blanket and finished it off with a scalloped edge - it's a prezzy so has to be stored until needed. Julia had asked me to make a couple of little drawstring bags for her, so the fabric and cord is all to do with that. The boxes in the back contain card making stuff as I needed the dining room to be clear!

Blanket close up.......

Two fabrics for the Julia's bags - actually it was good using these as I bought them during a lunch stop when we were heading up for the Llandudno Crop last Sept!  I'd forgotten about them until I had a good rummage....

A tangle of cord - no matter how carefully I put this away, it always emerges looking like a rats' nest :-D

I'd also forgotten that I'd promised my SiL that I'd make her a fabric glasses case for her handbag. The spots attracted my attention and 15 mins later, there you are!. That's my own cardboard pattern behind - I have to label the front and back to make sure I get the right pieces facing the right way.....sad, I know but it works. Simple is so often the best :-D

Short and sweet today - things to do, places to go, meetings to attend. So apologies once again for late replies to comments. Hope you're all doing well.

Have a great week! xxxx

Dancing twice in a week....now those were the days.....my fav shoes had 6” heels and 2” platforms and were black and shiny and yes I could walk miles in them (and often did).
Fab fabrics today and love the glasses case too.

Walking down some of our local hospital corridors with my DDC made me reminisce about when I worked there and used to walk down those corridors in high heels ..... tis but a dream ....
Glad you're having a good time, seems to come round in bunches doesn't it? Enjoy while you're able, that's what I say.
Have a good week

Hiya Jan, laughing about the heels- I haven't worn any of my platforms since my surgery, and not sure if I'll ever be able to walk with that much weight on my feet again! Think I'll be giving it another year, and they may end up on E-Bay, :( .
Also laughed at the cord, reminds me of a meme I saw- 'How to tie the perfect knot'- carefully and neatly roll up earbuds cord. Place gently into pocket. Wait 5 minutes and remove. Hey Presto! the worlds most complicated knot! And it's totally true as well. :) Love and hugs to you both, Shaz #6 XXXXXXXXX

Love the crocheted edge on that blanket!! Your cord mess reminds me of my ribbon drawer - aaargh!! At Ally Pally with my sister she was considering a very attractive ribbon store cabinet, with all the ribbon stored on cards and hanging from rods - I just looked at her and said, yes, fine, if you don't actually ever use the ribbon!! Anyhow, glad to hear you've been out strutting you stuff - aah, high heels, fond memories. Sometimes I just stand in my daughter's heels (holding onto the banister) just to remember what it feels like. Taller. Elegant. Agony...... Love the crocheted edge on that blanket!! You made me chuckle about the dancing - I know how you feel about the "age catching up" thing. There was a time I would be out most nights until 1 or 2 in the morning and still manage to be at work bright and early for an 8.30am start - makes me groan to even think about it. When I worked in a clothing shop heels were expected and I thought nothing of being on my feet all day - now a comfy set of footwear is far more appealing LOL.
Love the blanket Jan - the colours look fabulous.

I know exactly where you are coming from regarding those heels.. They had to be a male invention! It's good for the soul to dance and even better dancing barefoot :) Loving those fabrics and tangled cord, it looks much more comfy like that. Great glasses pattern, i'm sure your sil loved it.
Thank you for the warm WOYWW welcome and Thank you for sharing yours.

Oh Jan, I danced the other day in my kitchen. Well, the feet stayed stationery whilst the body swayed a little. Hardly think I am up in the night with hip pain! I looked like one of those old ladies you see posted on Facebook! Glad you managed two nights of REAL dancing - amazing. Bare feet?
Lovely for you to take every opportunity to meet up with Julia, you must miss one another. She will love those bags and the recipient of the blanket will be suitably pleased also.
Take care, not long now to Llandudno - can't make France as well so will have to let that one go although it would have been nice to see Donna.
Hugs & Thanks for visiting me earlier - Neet 2 xxxx

I can sympathise, I've been to two live gigs within a couple of weeks of each other - one of them in the mosh pit. The first time with Phoebe to see Blue October, the second with Devvie to see George Ezra. OMG - you forget how you will feel next day don't you? Or even immediately after the music stops and you have to then be able to walk and navigate the London underground going "ow, ow, ow!" Totally worth it though.

Love the fabric choices again this week. Have a wonderful week ahead :)

Lots going on for you...glad you get to meet up with Julia off and on. Days just come and go so quickly. I need some creative time without interruptions. Yeah the mind says we can and the ole' body shows us we can't. But here SUNSHINE would help it all. Have a fun week

How fun to go dancing! And 4" heels! My ankles were too wobbly to wear heels but I do remember some 2" clunky heeled shoes from my school days. Cute spec holder and bags! Have a great week!

Ha ha - just read Annie's comment - no wonder she has wonky knees now!! I remember falling off some 4 inch platforms in a shoe shop once - those were the days! I love that orange fabric combo Jan - and the little specs case is brilliant - simple design beautifully finished. xx Jo

Happy Belated WOYWW. I have been ill for a few days with some nasty mystery pain (plus dizziness and generally feeling rotten), and not even felt like crafting or going on the pc. Feeling a bit better today and touring around some blogs. I love your crochet blanket - looks really soft. Dancing - used to literally be the first on the dancefloor and the last off (3 or 4 nights per week, and work or study full time too)! Ali x #8
